The Luke Cyr Foundation’s Mission

Luke Cyr on the Foundation's Mission

September 11, 2023

My journey from life into the shadows began when I returned from war, and lost my will to live. I took refuge in darkness and desolation, but this eventually left me with nowhere to turn except to join the dead and escape my sorrow and my despair.

My salvation came when I entered the treatment center, where compassionate people helped me find a way to recover my life and to believe again in life’s possibilities for me.

The Luke Cyr Foundation was established with the mission of aiding individuals struggling with mental health issues, including military personnel, first responders, and anyone who has given up on their lives. Our goal is to offer a path from darkness into light.

On October 30, 2021, I, Luke Cyr, attempted to take my own life and was subsequently admitted to a mental health facility. After a five-day stay, I received further care at Homewood Health Centre in Guelph, Ontario. During this time, it was the professionals at the Robbie Dean Centre who led me back from the edge of the precipice and helped me believe once again that I had value and that I could make my life matter.

However, it was the Caddie School for Soldiers in Scotland that truly transformed my life. The school provided purpose, skills, and opportunities for success. Cabot in Cape Breton hired me on the spot and is now committed to welcoming graduates from the school, offering them the same chances I received. Being a caddie saved my life and reunited me with my family. These positive changes that I experienced  have changed the lives of many other former soldiers who were haunted by the darkness of war and found their way to the Caddie School For Soldiers.

The Luke Cyr Foundation dedicates 100% of its proceeds to two non-profit organizations: the Robbie Dean Centre and the Caddie School for Soldiers, both reliant on donations to operate. They were my lifelines, and I intend to devote myself to ensure their continued success. As long as I have breath in my lungs, I will work tirelessly to support them.

I humbly ask for your assistance in saving the lives of military personnel, first responders, and those silently suffering who have sacrificed to protect our safety and freedom. Please join forces with me to make a difference before it’s too late.
