Luke Shares His Inspiring Journey with On The Screws Podcast
November 15, 2024
Luke recently did an interview with On The Screws Podcast, https://instagram.com/otsgolf / https://youtube.com/@OTSgolf where he opened up about his incredible journey from serving in the military to finding purpose as a caddie at Cabot, and how those experiences inspired him to create the Luke Cyr Foundation.
A Journey of Resilience and Hope
Luke’s story is one of resilience, hope, and the transformative power of community. He talked about how the struggles he faced after his military service, both physically and mentally, led him to the brink. In his darkest hour, Luke found a lifeline through the support of his family and the opportunity to join the Caddie School for Soldiers in Scotland. This marked the start of a powerful new chapter, where caddying at Cabot gave him purpose and helped him reclaim his life.
Luke credits caddying not only for its therapeutic benefits but also for the incredible connections it allowed him to build. As he puts it, “Caddying saved my life.”
The Luke Cyr Foundation
During the interview, Luke shared the mission of his foundation, which supports two key organizations that were instrumental in his journey: the Robbie Dean Centre (https://www.robbiedeancentre.com/) and the Caddie School for Soldiers (https://caddieschoolforsoldiers.com/). These organizations provide vital resources for mental health and support for veterans.
Luke’s commitment to giving back doesn’t stop there. In 2025, he plans to donate every dollar he earns as a caddie to his foundation, further amplifying its impact. He also unveiled an exciting initiative to walk the equivalent distance from Inverness, Nova Scotia, to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, while tracking his steps as a caddie. This campaign will encourage donations for every kilometer walked and involve sponsors along the way, culminating in a Victory Gala to celebrate overcoming the darkness and embracing life anew.
