About The Luke Cyr Foundation

The Luke Cyr Foundation emerged from a deeply personal journey of recovery and rediscovery. Founded by Luke Cyr, a Canadian Armed Forces veteran, the Foundation is dedicated to supporting individuals grappling with mental health issues, particularly military personnel, first responders, and others who feel they have nowhere left to turn.

Our Mission: Giving those who have retreated to the darkness a chance to embrace the light.

Our Vision: The Luke Cyr Foundation envisions a community where those who have made the ultimate sacrifice can rejoin society, reclaim their lives, and reconnect with their families, friends, and workplaces. We strive to provide comprehensive support, enabling individuals to overcome mental health challenges and reintegrate into their communities.

Core Values

Combating the Stigma of Mental Health: We aim to address mental health issues proactively, focusing on early intervention before it’s too late. By sharing success stories, we seek to remove the stigma associated with mental health, making it a topic we openly discuss.

Support Through Partnerships: Our collaboration with the Caddie School for Soldiers and the Robbie Dean Centre reflects our commitment to providing crucial funding and support. The Caddie School for Soldiers uses the power of golf to give soldiers a renewed sense of purpose, while Robbie Dean Center offers a starting point for those beginning their healing journey.

“The Robbie Dean Centre was there for me before I went to treatment. Without it, I wouldn’t be here today. From a small office space 11 years ago, it now operates two locations, helping close to 1,000 people a year.

The Caddie School for Soldiers is the main reason I’m still alive today. It gave me purpose and a reason to live. Thanks to organizations like the Luke Cyr Foundation, the program has expanded from one session a year to four, with veterans working as caddies worldwide.”

Both the Caddie School for Soldiers and the Robbie Dean Centre provide critical resources for veterans, first responders, and others facing mental health challenges. They offer immediate support and guidance, especially valuable given the long wait times for medical professionals.

Partnerships and Collaborations

We work closely with the Caddie School for Soldiers and its graduates, collaborating with Cabot Cape Breton to ensure a safe environment for those that choose to pursue employment as a caddie. Through charity events and awareness campaigns, we support and promote this unique program.

We actively participate in charity events and awareness campaigns for the Robbie Dean Centre, spreading its vital message and ensuring it has the funding needed to continue its essential work.

Our partnerships with both organizations align with our mission of giving those in darkness a chance to embrace the light. By leveraging our influence and networks, we bring awareness and funding to these critical programs, ensuring they can continue their life-saving work.

In our first year of operation, we successfully donated $12,500 to both the Caddie School for Soldiers and the Robbie Dean Centre, a significant milestone for the Foundation.

Community Impact

The Foundation has made significant strides in destigmatizing mental health discussions. Luke has regularly engaged with schools, retirement homes, and the broader community, increasing awareness of the challenges and needs of mental health non-profit organizations.

Future Goals

As the Luke Cyr Foundation grows, we hope to further extend our reach, increasing focus on supporting first responders, connecting with other organizations, and building larger awareness campaigns. We also aspire to establish a Caddie School for First Responders.

“As a survivor of suicide who found purpose through these programs, I want everyone to have the opportunities I had. Your support enables us to share success stories of those who have found their way back to the light. Stay true to our mission, believe in our impact, and contribute to our cause. Together, we can make a difference.”
